New York 2012 Games Yes – Stadium No

Newsday reports that a poll of New York voters conducted by Quinnipiac University released Thursday found that 56 per cent of New Yorkers don’t want a new stadium on the West side of New York but 63 per cent are in favour of New York hosting the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

According to the poll 35 per cent of respondents supported the stadium while the rest offered no opinion.

In Manhattan, where the stadium would be built, 64 per cent opposed its construction while 27 per cent supported it.

Kinsey Case of the Hell’s Kitchen/Hudson Yards Alliance said, “the debate on the West Side stadium should be over. New Yorkers have said for many months that they overwhelmingly do not want a stadium for the West Side”.

Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,435 registered voters between February 22 and March 1. The poll had a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.
