The Associated Press reports that a survey done by French market research group CSA which was published in a French weekly magazine on Saturday showed that 85 per cent of those surveyed want the Paris to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, while eight per cent of respondents were opposed to and seven per cent had no opinion.
Those who want the Games highlighted the significant “economic benefits” of hosting the Olympics, while others said it would “improve France’s image abroad” and “help develop sport” in the country.
Those against the Games feared an increase in taxes, restaurant and hotel prices while others were concerned that Paris couldn’t afford to pay for the Games.
The survey was carried out on February 9 and 10 from a sample of 1,002 people over the age of 15.
