President Signs Law For Sochi 2014 Games

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a law introducing amendments which regulate the preparation and hosting the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Itar-Tass reports the new law stipulates some “special features” for ownership rights on land and other real estate objects, e.g. a procedure to issue easement certificates to build and/or operate Olympic sites.

The law also regulates how to keep a state land cadastral register, the state registration procedure of land ownership rights and real estate deals, the transfer of a plot of land from one category to another, real estate appraisal, and the role of notary services and courts.

The new law focuses on urban planning. It specifies what procedure the state would have to undertake to design the documentation of Olympic sites and “describes special features of technical conditions and payments” to connect an Olympic site to the engineering infrastructure.
