Construction on the venue for the table tennis competition at the Beijing 2008 Games began Saturday and is scheduled for completion in August 2007.
The gymnasium is located on the Beijing University campus within half an hour drive from the Olympic Green.
There will be 8,000 seats, 2,000 of which are temporary.
Thirty-seven venues are needed for the 2008 Games with 31 being planned for Beijing. Of the 11 venues being built in Beijing, ten are already under construction.
Beijing said it would have all the venues ready by the end of 2007 for test events.
The Bejing 2008 Summer Olympic Games takes place August 8 to 24, 2008.
