The Swedish Olympic Committee said last August that Ostersund and Are will be its candidates to bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games and now Sweden will carry out a budget analysis to provide “a comprehensive social-economic view” of the financial impact of hosting the Games, reports the Associated Press.
Finance Ministry spokesperson Asa Jakobsson said Thursday the financial analysis for Sweden will be presented in July and the government will decide whether to back a bid sometime this fall.
She said the government has yet to decide how much it is willing to spend on bringing the Games to Sweden, which hasn’t hosted the Olympics since 1912.
