Rally On Robson For Vancouver 2010

On the first day of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) inspection of Vancouver’s bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Vancouver residents will have an opportunity to show their support for the bid.

Three blocks of Robson Street in downtown Vancouver will be shut down for the rally, which will take place from 12:00 to 5:00 P.M. on March 2.

An artificial ice surface will feature figure skating, sledge hockey, speed skating wheelchair curling, and hockey. There will be aerial acrobatics, bobsled races, and a full slate of wheelchair sports; lacrosse, basketball, hockey and soccer.

There will also be an autograph tent where the public can meet and greet past, present and future Olympic stars, as well as a pin-trading tent.

Also, a 55 ft. x 120 ft. banner featuring luge athlete Kyle Connelly, who was the top Canadian men’s singles finisher at the Salt Lake City Games, has been affixed to one of Vancouver’s largest buildings. It will be the largest single-faced panel image installed in the city.
