Madrid 2012 Announces Sports Facilities Plans

Madrid’s city council and Ministry of Public Works have announced plans for four new projects to be located in Manzanares Park’s new sporting grounds.

According to a Madrid 2012 press release the park demonstrates the most important investment of the project to date in relation to the Olympic Ring, where the Olympic village will be located.

Through its construction the bid committee hopes to obtain a balance between the city and its underdeveloped areas in the south.

Manzanares Park will be extended by 400 hectares where two sports facilities will be built for the Games – a grass pitched hockey stadium and a venue for tennis.

The complex should be completed by 2006.
