Suspended IOC Member Gets Support From Sports Leaders

Ivan Slavkov, suspended International Olympic Committee (IOC) member from Bulgaria, has the support of three of the world’s sports leaders.

Slavkov faces an expulsion vote at the IOC session in Singapore and if found guilty of inappropriate conduct in the 2012 bid process and vote buying, he could be suspended.

Slavkov has the backing of FIFA President Sepp Blatter and his predecessor Joan Havelange, as well as the support of former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch.

According to Bulgarian media Slavkov will present new evidence at the IOC meeting to defend himself against bribery accusations.

Last year the BBC aired footage showing Slavkov negotiating support for London’s bid with undercover reporters. IOC members will have the opportunity to view the documentary called “Buying The Games”, on Thursday afternoon.
