New Transportation Infrastructure Boosts Annecy 2018

Christian Monteil, President of the Haute-Savoie General Council and Chairman of Annecy 2018, inaugurated the multi-transport station in Bellegarde-sur-Valserine. It’s part of a crossroads with a new train line that will link Geneva to Paris in less than three hours.

The new infrastructure will bring together all forms of transportation (rail, bus, cars, cycles and pedestrians) and is entirely bioclimatic.

The project swill reduce travel time between Geneva and Paris and the success of the multi-transport station adds to the transportation chapter and brings it even closer to the heart of the Annecy 2018 bid, said a press release.

Jean-Pierre Vidal, Chairman of the Annecy 2018 Sustainable Development Advisory Group said, “sustainable development and protecting the land are one of the main forces of Annecy 2018’s bid for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The project will be the occasion for the area to set the example for the 21st century, in terms of development and construction, notably for winter sports resorts by privileging the improvement of transportation and access”.
