Russian Supervisory Board Adopts Sochi 2014 Bid

Sochi’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games was unanimously adopted Monday by the Russian Supervisory Board.

According to Sochi 2014 its legacy to the region will be state-of-the-art training and competition facilities, improved transport and accommodation infrastructure, and no “white elephants”.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said, “the Russian government is very pleased to continue supporting Sochi’s bid and share a common goal of bringing the Olympic Winter Games to Russia for the first time in history. The ability to work with the bid in an efficient and directed manner has been enormously beneficial and we count on continuing this close collaboration as they prepare the submission of the Candidature File for January and the Evaluation Commission visit to Sochi in February”.
