A day before an official announcement was to be made that Tromsoe would bid for the 2012 Winter Olympic Games, the Norwegian government reportedly said it is not supporting Tromsoe’s bid because of the high costs involved.
Tromsoe had requested a commitment from the government in the amount of eight billion crowns.
Government officials were also concerned that there would be only 20 years between a Tromsoe 2014 Games and the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer.
