New Ticket System For Beijing 2008 Ceremonies

Beijing 2008 is implementing a new real-name entry system for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies to ensure security, eradicate fake tickets, control speculative ticket reselling, and safeguard the interests of the majority of ticket buyers.

Beijing 2008 says that ticket purchasers will now be required to submit their personal photographs and identification. Beijing 2008 will begin gathering the photos and identification of ticket buyers through the following procedures.

From January 15 to 31 those living on the mainland of the People’s Republic of China who have successfully purchased tickets must submit their photo and ID information.

BOCOG will send a registration form to the purchasers to be filled in, and a personal photo – a two-inch frameless photo in colour of the purchaser, hatless, with a white or even-coloured backdrop not taken earlier than August 2006 – must be attached to the form and sent back through an outlet of the Bank of China together with a duplicate copy of the purchaser’s identification card. The form must be delivered in person or though a trustee as posted mail is invalid, says Beijing 2008.

When the documents are submitted in person the purchasers must show their original identification card. If submitted though a trustee the purchaser and trustee must sign a letter of trust and attach it to the registration form. The agent must then show his or her own original registration card as well as a duplicate copy.

The registration form can be downloaded from the official ticketing website of the Beijing 2008 Games where more information is available, or from an outlet of the Bank of China.

Meanwhile more than 4.5 million tickets have been requested during the second phase of domestic ticket sales. Rong Jun, deputy head of the Beijing Olympic Ticketing Center said Friday that it is double the actual amount of tickets allotted for this phase of ticket sales.
