Followers of the Bauwagen-Wohnprojekts Bambule could disrupt activities in Hamburg’s town hall market on Saturday where tens of thousand of people are expected to hear the announcement of Germany’s candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Although there has been no official announcement, there have been calls on the Internet for people to attend the demonstration and police are preparing just in case.
Karl-Heinz Blumenberg, a spokesperson for Hamburg 2012, said the protests have nothing to do with Hamburg’s 2012 bid. He said the group is using the Olympic bid to publicize its own interests.
