London 2012 – 100 Days To “Inspire A Generation”

One hundred days before the start of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games, LOCOG unveiled Wednesday the Games motto – “Inspire a generation”, which it says reflects the promise made when London bid for the 2012 Games. The motto will appear on branding and publications in the run-up and during the Summer Games.

The latest installation of the Olympic rings were also unveiled at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, west London. The rings are 50m long and will be made up of 20,000 plants. They will be visible from the Heathrow Airport flight path.

The flowers were planted over a period of five days by a team of volunteers and Kew staff.

Meanwhile 31 of 42 test venues have been successfully completed. The largest takes place in May involving more than 80,000 people on the Olympic Park for six events.

Also, preparations for the London 2012 Festival, the country’s largest festival, will see more than 1,000 events held across the UK as part of the Cultural Olympiad. There will be 10 million other free opportunities to take part in events in the UK.
