Russian Olympic Committee Supports Dagestan 2018 Youth Olympic Bid

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) received a bid proposal from Dagestan for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games, which has the support of ROC President and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov.

According to RIA Novosti Zhukov said, “I think it’s a good idea, though, of course, the problem is – in Dagestan, as such there is no sports facilities, although there are plans to build”.

He added, “the question may be complicated by the fact that during the Youth Games, International Olympic Committee’s approach is to minimize costs.

“But on the other hand, those objects that are supposed to be used in Dagestan will be built. This is a delicate issue, but in principle it would be nice if there were Youth Olympic Games”.
