Conference Award Boosts Glasgow 2018 Youth Games Bid

For the seventh time the City of Glasgow has been named the conference capital of the UK beating off strong competition from cities across the UK, including London and Manchester, and boosting Glasgow’s bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) awards that are given annually, are reportedly considered highly prestigious because they are voted for by more than 3,000 meetings industry professionals.

Glasgow 2018 Bid Director Paul Bush said, “to win a prestigious M&IT award for a seventh time is a fantastic achievement and reflects the city’s position as a leading destination for conferences and events. This award, which is recognized as the industry’s ‘gold standard’, is testimony to the excellent partnership working that exists between the different partners across the city.

“That partnership approach is also at the very heart of our bid to bring the 2018 Youth Olympic Games to the city. Glasgow is continuing to push ahead with plans to bring the very best conferences and events to the city and the Youth Olympic Games falls into that category. We want to build on the success of our partners including GCMB (Glasgow City Marketing Bureau) and show the world we are the perfect destination”.
