USOC Considers Youth Olympic Bid

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is considering a bid for the Youth Olympic Games, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, as well as Lake Placid, New York, may be possible contenders for the event.

According to the Gazette, Lake Placid would bid for the 2016 Winter Youth Games to be awarded by the IOC in May, and Raleigh-Durham would bid for the 2018 Winter Youth Games, which will be awarded in 2014.

The only candidate city for the 2016 Youth Games so far is Lillehammer, Norway, host of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, and Spain has reportedly expressed an interest in a joint bid by Zaragoza and Jaca.

Bids are to be submitted to the IOC by November.
