Sofia To Bid For 2016 Winter Youth Games

Focus News Agency reports that Sofia wants to bid for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games. The subject was discussed during a meeting between Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov and Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Rogge said at the meeting he is happy with Sofia’s infrastructure and was impressed with his visit to the city.

Mayor Borisov told Rogge he would do everything required for Sofia’s 2016 bid and would enact a law similar to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Sofia had failed bids for the 1992, 1994 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
