Singapore 2010 Youth Games Tickets On Sale

Tickets to the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will be available Monday at 9 a.m. Singapore time.

The Opening Ceremony will be held August 14 at the Float@Marina Bay and the tickets, priced at $200, $120 and $80, will be available through the Singapore 2010 website, ticketing hotline, or from the Singapore Indoor Stadium Authorised Ticket Counter.

More than 5,000 young performers will perform at the ceremony which will be a “dazzling show of music and colour showcasing local talents”, said a media release.

Tickets to the Closing Ceremony on August 26 at the Float@Marina Bay will also be available, priced at $80, $40 and $15.

A proportion of tickets offered at a ticket balloting and payment collection exercise which ended June 7 and were not sold, are now open for public sale. Each ticket is also a Singapore 2010 DBS Visa Prepaid Companion Card which entitles each spectator to a maximum of four Mass Rapid Transit train rides and unlimited bus rides on the day of the event for every ticket purchased. It’s the world’s first “all in-one” event ticket that can be used for admission into the venue, payment and transit.

Meanwhile more than 160,000, or more than 60 per cent of tickets for sale, are currently unavailable, including tickets to many sessions of basketball, diving, equestrian, fencing, modern pentathlon and swimming.

Tickets are selling quickly for athletics and gymnastics, with less than 100 tickets available for all sessions of archery, boxing, handball, shooting and taekwondo.

The sporting competitions are priced at S$10 for preliminaries, S$15 for quarter and semi finals, and S$30 for the finals. Admission is free at the National Sailing Centre and East Coast Park.
