Seoul Olympics Anniversary Promotes PyeongChang 2018

Celebrations were held Friday across South Korea marking the 22nd anniversary of the opening of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.

To support the event a photo exhibition promoting PyeongChang’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games will be open until the end of October at the Seoul Olympic Museum. The exhibit showcases images of PyeongChang’s landscape, captures some of the best Korean winter sports moments, and highlights PyeongChang 2018’s preparations, including the premiere of the bid’s new promotional video, said a press release.

More than 300 people, including representatives from Korea’s various sports federations, Olympic medallists, and 1988 Seoul Olympic Games volunteers, attended the event and to show support for PyeongChang’s 2018 bid.

Yang Ho Cho, Chairman and CEO of PyeongChang 2018 said, “2018 will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1988 Seoul Games, and this inspires us to keep our promises to the IOC, deliver on our commitments, and make every effort to win the right to host the Winter Games in 2018. Following a successful Games in 1988, we want to demonstrate that an Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang will help to grow winter sports across Asia and encourage a new, young generation of winter sport athletes”.
