PyeongChang 2018 Forms Athletes Committee

PyeongChang 2018 announced Tuesday it has formed an Athletes Committee to support the ongoing development of the city’s Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games plan .

The PyeongChang 2018 Athletes Committee comprises 24 South Korean winter sports athletes including Vancouver 2010 gold medallist Yu-Na Kim (Figure Skating).

The committee held its inaugural meeting Tuesday, and according to a press release, will use its extensive Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games experience and its in-depth knowledge of international sporting events to advise the bid committee about the sports venues plan and considerations for Games time operations.

Yang-Ho Cho, Co-Chairman of PyeongChang 2018 said, “we are very pleased to establish the Athletes Committee as we want to highlight the important ongoing role that winter sports athletes play in the development of our Games Plan. Our bid is focused on meeting the needs of the athletes and with their advice and support we have created the most compact Games Plan in Olympic Winter Games history”.
