International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said in an interview published Wednesday in Sueddeutsche Zeitung that he expects a solution to be reached between Munich 2018’s bid committee and the 59 farmers and land owners from Garmisch-Partenkirchen who told the IOC they won’t make their land available should Munich host the 2018 Winter Games.
Rogge said, “I believe that a solution will be found. Public resistance surrounds many bids but this is mostly solved by agreements after long debates. Germany is a strong democracy. You have to respect individual rights”.
Most of the snow events are planned to take place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Munich is bidding against PyeongChang and Annecy.
