The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has arrived in Munich Sunday in preparation for the city’s site evaluation for the 2018 Olympic bid. IOC Evaluation Commission Chairperson Gunilla Lindberg and her team were welcomed by the bid team and the Mayor of Munich, Christian Ude.
From March 1 to March 4 the Evaluation Commission will watch presentations, ask questions and visit venues and proposed sites for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games bid. This visit, along with the Munich 2018 bid dossier, will be used as a basis for the evaluation report due to be released by the IOC in June, 2011.
The IOC has already completed visits to Munich’s competitors, Annecy in France and PyeongChang in South Korea, in February.
The Munich bid committee has lined up elite athletes and prominent dignitaries to promote the German bid to the IOC.
