Germany's National Football League Supports Munich 2018 Winter Games Bid

It was announced in German House at the Vancouver Olympics that the Bundesliga, Germany’s national football league, is supporting Munich’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Bundesliga will promote the bid by providing opportunities to advertise the bid in Germany through television commercials as well as the involvement of the league’s own media platforms such as Internet sites and stadium newspapers that reach an audience of millions.

Thomas Bach, President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), told a press conference “the cooperation with the league shows that even the football stands, including the German Football Association (is) fully behind the Olympic application.”.

Willy Bogner, CEO of Munich 2018 said, “with this cooperation we managed a good double pass. The league is for us an important team member’s application (for our 2018 bid). We are glad to have found a strong partner who will support us (in our 2018 Winter Games bid)”.
