Favourable Survey Boosts Munich 2018

A recent survey in Monocle magazine, which ranked the city number one it its global “Qualify of Life” for the second time, has given Munich a boost in its bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Munich was named the most “liveable” city in the world thanks in part to its “Laptops and Lederhosen” culture, according to the magazine.

Munich 2018 CEO Willy Bogner believes its unique fusion of booming IT and publishing-driven economy and a proud heritage of Bavarian traditions would provide a fantastic setting for the 2018 Winter Games.

He said, “we are delighted with the results of Monocle’s survey because they reinforce one of the key aspects of our bid. Munich and Bavaria would offer an incomparable venue for the 2018 Winter Games. On the one hand we have our spectacular natural treasures in the Alps; on the other hand we have this bustling, cosmopolitan, sports-mad city with a thriving arts scene, superb inner-city transport, and some of the most welcoming people on Earth.

“Our concept of “The Friendly Games” aims to make the most of our resources and guarantee athletes, the Olympic family, and spectators, a very special experience”.

Bogner added it is Munich’s diversity that would make it such an Olympic family-friendly destination for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2018.
