Once the United States Olympic Committee decided not to submit a candidate for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games the Reno-Tahoe coalition shifted gears and is now focussing on a bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Jon Killoran, CEO of the Reno-Tahoe coalition said, “what is encouraging about this hunt is that we did not get beaten out by someone else. It gives us a chance to work on our proposals so when we are ready to move forward it will be full speed on the gas pedal”.
Carolyn Wallace Dee, an executive at Squaw Valley USA said, “when you think about it, that is not that far off because that decision will be made in less than four years. So we have to get ready”.
Killoran added, “the first step of a long term strategy to land the 2022 Games will happen almost immediately”.
