Ukraine’s president Victor Yanukovych said Thursday that Ukraine may bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in the Carpathian Mountains.
Ria Novosti reports the President said, “if we agree to this initiative, we will start working on our country’s official bid to hold the Winter Olympics in the Carpathians”.
He said Ukraine will have enough time to prepare for the Winter Games if it wins the bid.
Ukraine and neighbouring Poland are hosting the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. UEFA has reportedly voiced concerns that stadiums built in Ukraine for the tournament are behind schedule.
