Poland Launches Joint Bid With Slovakia For 2022 Winter Olympics

Poland’s Olympic committee said a letter confirming a joint Poland/Slovakia bid was sent Thursday to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) a week before the deadline.

According to the bid, Krakow would host the Games along with alpine events held across the border in Slovakia.

There are now five declared bids for the 2022 Games – Oslo announced its bid earlier Thursday, and Lviv Ukraine, Beijing/Zhangjiakou, and Almaty. Kazakhstan have also announced they are bidding.

A referendum is being held Sunday in Germany on a proposed Munich bid.

The IOC will select the host city for the 2022 Games in 2015.
