Government Approves Slovakia Budget For 2022 Winter Olympic Bid

Bloomberg reports Slovakia is prepared to spend $243 million if it wins the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in a joint bid with Poland.

Should the joint bid be successful, Slovakia would host alpine skiing and ice hockey events, with the Polish city of Krakow acting as the centre of the Games.

As much as 169 million Euros of Slovakia’s budget for the Games will be covered by the state, according to the document posted on the government website, reports Bloomberg. The funds will mostly be spent on upgrading roads and other infrastructure.

Beijing, Oslo, Lviv, Almaty and Stockholm are also competing for the 2022 Winter Games.
