Although the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has not yet decided whether it will bid for the 2022 Winter Games or submit a bid for the 2024 Summer Games, USOC Chief Executive officer Scott Blackmun said Friday at the U.S. Olympic Assembly that the USOC has been contacted by Denver about putting together a bid for the 2022 Winter Games.
Blackmun said Lake Tahoe, Nevada is also interested in a 2022 bid. Proposals are due to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2014 and the IOC vote is scheduled for 2015.
Blackmun, referring to when the U.S. last hosted the Sale Lake 2022 Games said, “I think 20 years is long enough. It’s important that we host the Games in the United States as a way to keep Americans connected to the team”.
