Survey Shows Less Support For Oslo 2022 Olympic Bid

According to 1,000 people surveyed nationwide by Sentio Research conducted between March 24 and 28, dpa reports that 59.2 per cent of those polled were opposed to Oslo hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, while 34.7 per cent were in favour.

The daily Klassekampen commissioned the poll.

When asked “should Oslo bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics or should we skip it?”, six per cent were undecided. The poll had a margin of error of about three per cent.

The survey showed that no region of the country backed hosting the Games including Oslo. In Oslo, the poll suggested 55.8 per cent were opposed to the Games, 41.4 per cent favoured them, while 2.8 per cent were undecided.

In a local referendum held last September 55.1 per cent of Oslo residents backed hosting the Games.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is to elect a host city for the 2022 Games on July 25, 2015 during its session in Kuala Lumpur
