Referendum On Krakow 2022 Olympic Bid

According to AFP, a referendum is to be held in Krakow on May 25 on the Polish city’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

A decision on a referendum was made by city council Tuesday.

Krakow Mayor Jacek Majchrowski said recently, “I’m convinced that staging the Olympic Games will be an important step in the development of our city and its region. But I believe the decision must be taken by its residents”.

Krakow is bidding against Lviv, Beijing, Oslo and Almaty. The host city for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games will be elected at the 127th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015.
