Beijing, along with Zhangjiakou, launched its official website Thursday in its bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The site is in Chinese, English and French, and contains eight major sections that give information about the Winter Olympics, the bid process, and the two cities.
Wu Jingmi, deputy secretary general of the bid committee, said, “the site will enable the public to learn more about the bidding process and is the official platform for the release of information on the bid. It will also promote the cities’ image around the world and help the bidding committee connect with the public”.
Wang Hui, head of the publicity department of the bid committee said the website will help the popularization of winter sports. He said, “we hope the website could help people get to know the sports, and catch up with what is underway during the bidding procedure”.
The website will also act to solicit opinions, slogans, anthems and posters from the public, and it has been launched exactly one year before the election of the host city on July 31.
