(London) — On Thursday at SportAccord in London the three cities bidding for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games are set to make presentations to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Sport Federations. The thirty-minute presentations represent a critical step in the bid campaign – a rare opportunity to address many of the key stakeholders in one room.
Munich will present first at 09:30 (local London time) followed by Annecy at 11:30 and finally PyeongChang at 14:30. The candidates will also conduct press conferences individually starting at 16:00.
Each bid has brought high-profile teams to London for the presentations including Mayors, athletes, politicians and top experts.
Munich has promised words from Ian Robertson, Head of Sales and Marketing for BMW Group – a key sponsor who can demonstrate the marketability of the Games in Germany. Annecy will feature Olympic Champions who are part of the bid team including a video from triple gold-medalist Jean-Claude Killy. PyeongChang’s star athlete ambassador, Olympic Gold Medalist figure skater Yuna Kim, had been scheduled to be part of today’s presentation for the Korean bid but she cancelled in order to be part of the rescheduled World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow later this month.
The bids will have another opportunity to present to a large group of IOC members in Lausanne in May.
