New Community Website For Tokyo 2016

Tokyo 2016 has announced that four “technology-savvy digital media experts” have donated their time to a new community website to support Tokyo’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Tokyo2016Today.com will provide daily updates on bid-related news and events, and “an ever-expanding selection of stunning images”.

Tokyo 2016 says the new website is part of a larger digital community comprising people of many nationalities that support its bid, which includes rapidly growing groups on Twitter and Flickr.

Tokyo 2016 Chief Internet Office Takao Ozawa said, “it is fantastic to see people with a real passion for Tokyo 2016 using new media to build global momentum for the bid as it builds towards it conclusion. Tokyo 2016 is uniting people with sport, healthy living and cultural understanding, and we ourselves are inspired by those who, independently of the bid, use technology to help make the most high-tech Games in history a reality”.

Dr. Ichiro Kono, Chair and CEO of Tokyo 2016 said, “in setting the stage for heroes, Tokyo 2016 is utilizing cutting-edge technology of all forms – from innovative communications to renewable energy and clean transport – as we prepare to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. It is greatly satisfying to see bid supporters at grassroots level and from diverse backgrounds using their expertise for the same purpose. Together we can help to unite the world with the Olympic Movement”.
