The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) opened Japan House Wednesday, its cultural showcase in Beijing for the duration of the Games.
Japan House is based at the Hotel New Otani Chang Fu Gong, and features an area dedicated to Tokyo 2016 to help promote its new “Uniting Our Worlds” theme.
Dr. Ichiro Kono, Chairman and CEO of Tokyo 2016 said, “Japan House is a great place to experience our unique blend of tradition and modernity that creates our contemporary culture. It is a showcase for our bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games at the very heart of city life, along with the environment, innovation, pop culture, top fashion design, Japanese cuisine and Tokyo the city. Importantly there are viewing screens to enjoy the world’s greatest event”.
Japan House contains an interactive Tokyo 2016 venue map and multimedia demonstrations, an environment corner highlighting Japan’s green commitment and leadership, a technology area showing the Tokyo of the future, a Tokyo 1964 photography exhibition, and Japanese Olympic Committee sponsors.
