More than 1,000 cheerleaders competed in the 8th All Japan Dance Championship at a Tokyo 2016 venue Sunday. Cheerleaders from 90 teams in all age groups performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, a former Tokyo 1964 venue which has been proposed to host gymnastics and table tennis events should Tokyo be chosen for the 2016 Summer Games.
Paralympian and former cheerleader Mami Sato joined in throwing her enthusiastic support behind Tokyo’s bid for the 2016 Summer Games, said a press release.
Dr. Ichiro Kono, Chairman and CEO of Tokyo 2016 said, “we have all been delighted by the creative and joyful manifestation of Olympism provided by the event’s participants. It is yet another example of the enthusiasm of Tokyo 2016 being shown across all levels of Japanese society”.
