“Human Race” Could Promote Madrid 2016

Madrid is joining other 2016 bid cities including Tokyo and Chicago, as well as Vancouver, host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, in the “Human Race”, a global celebration of sport on August 31.

The event is a 10-km run being held on the same day in 25 major cities from around the world. Other cities participating are Los Angeles, New York, Melbourne, Paris, Shanghai, and Buenos Aires.

It’s the latest in a series of major sporting events in Madrid which are helping to showcase Madrid’s 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Madrid is to form one of the links in a worldwide chain that are being brought together in the name of sport. According to a media release more than a million runners of all ages are expected to take part globally.

Madrid Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon said, “we are confident of a very high turnout on August 31 at the passion grows strong for the city to live the Olympic dream. The whole city is working towards the goal of hosting the Olympics in 2016”.
