USOC To Narrow Potential Olympic 2024 Candidates

Following a board meeting in Colorado Tuesday, USOC CEO Scott Blackmun told The Associated Press that they’re looking to narrow the list of potential candidates for the 2024 Summer Games from ten to two or three by this December. They will then decide sometime in 2014 whether they’ll go ahead with a bid for the 2024 Games.

Chairman Larry Probst said officials will be keeping an eye on the current 2020 Olympic bidding process to see if they can learn anything from the presentations of candidates Tokyo, Madrid and Istanbul.

NBC reports the most likely American candidate cities for 2024 appear to be San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas, a potential San Diego/Tijuana joint bid, and Los Angeles
