Poll Shows Hamburg 2024 Bid Has Support

A poll carried out by mafo.de, the German online consumer group, shows that nearly two-thirds or 64.7 per cent of respondents are in favour of a Hamburg 2024 Summer Olympic Games bid.

Five hundred people in Hamburg and the surrounding area responded to the poll.

The DOSB, the German Olympic sports federation, announced last month that it would hold talks with officials in Hamburg and Berlin about a possible bid to host the Olympic Games, perhaps as early as 2024.

Last November Hamburg pulled out of a possible bid for the 2024 Games, following a clear “no” in a referendum held on Munich’s bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Cities have until November 2015 to declare an interest in bidding for the 2024 Games.
