France May Still Bid For 2024 Summer Games

The Associated Press reports that French authorities are still considering a possible bid from Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, even though Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced he’s backing Paris’ candidacy for the 2025 World Expo.

Officials at the French presidency and sports ministry reportedly deny that Valls support for the world’s fair means that Paris would be unable to bid for the Olympics.

Nathalie Iannetta, sports adviser to French President Francois Hollande, told The Associated Press that bidding for the expo won’t undermine a potential Olympic bid because “the investments that will be made will benefit both projects”.

Iannetta also said the results of a feasibility study in the coming month will be crucial in deciding whether Paris should bid for the Games.
