Delhi 2010 Looks To An Olympic Bid

Suresh Kalmadi, head of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games organizing committee, said Thursday that the Commonwealth Games could lead to India hosting an Olympic Games.

AFP reports Kalmadi said the Games would be successful and act as a springboard for an Olympic bid.

The Press Trust of India news agency reports Kalmadi said, “Olympics has all sports. We have to ensure that Olympics come up. This is our opportunity and CWG will help”.

He dismissed criticism of the Games while speaking at a sports business meeting in Delhi. He said the Games had brought Delhi forward 10 years, with new infrastructure including major expansion of the metro system which now linked the airport to the city centre, reports AFP.
