USOC CEO Scott Blackmun issued an invitation to large U.S. cities Tuesday asking for their interest in bidding for the 2024 Olympic Games. Dallas has expressed interest.
Matt Wood is CEO of Dallas 2024, the group working with Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) leaders to promote the areas benefits for a 2024 Summer Games bid.
While Dallas would take over the naming rights for the Games, locations across Texas would be used for events including Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
Wood said the full collection of venues will hopefully put Dallas above other places vying to become a potential host city.
He said, “we’re further along than some other cities and we have more resources here than other cities may have ready to go; it just make it the easiest choice for them”.
