In the hopes of hosting the 2028 Summer Olympic Games, Amsterdam is earmarking Olympic locations over the next few months as a first step to hosting the Games, the city’s alderman for public spaces said Friday.
The city hopes to land the 2028 Games 100 years after hosting the 1928 edition, reports Earth Times.
Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen talked about the plan at the Beijing 2008 Games, and alderman Maarten van Poelgeest said such Games were for the whole country.
He said, “the scale of the Olympic Games affects the whole of the Netherlands. Neverthless, especially in Amsterdam, Olympic locations must be found at an early stage”.
Van Poelgeest said that earmarking of the locations for the Olympic stadium other venues and the athletes’ village will take place until the end of the year, before more detailed planning is to begin.
