NBC reports President Barack Obama may be clearing his domestic calendar in order to attend the International Olympic Committee (IOC) vote in Copenhagen October 2 when the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be elected.
According to Michael Sneed of the Sun-Times, the President told members of his inner circle he plans to join Michelle Obama in Copenhagen to pitch Chicago’s bid. Chicago is one of four cities bidding to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Sneed reportedly said he wanted to surprise Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley who met with him this past week to attend an event promoting Chicago 2016’s bid.
