Dragon Boat Race Promotes Chicago 2016

Chicago 2016 participated in the Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy Friday, presented by the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District.

A 20-person boat team from Chicago 2016 joined about 26 teams, including groups from the Chicago Police Department and the Fire Department. The event includes Asian dance, music, food, and special guests from various political offices and local radio and television programs.

To promote its bid, Chicago 2016 has a booth available where people can get more information about the city’s 2016 Summer Olympic bid and receive wristbands and temporary tattoos, and sign up to support Chicago 2016.

Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and CJEO of Chicago 2016 said, “we are proud to support the strong Chinese community in Chicago and applaud its efforts to promote literacy in our public schools. Chinatown is one of 77 distinct neighbourhoods in Chicago, and its culture and diversity help to make Chicago such a vibrant city”.
