Organizers of the Chicago 2016 Summer Olympic Games bid are planning to put on an environmentally friendly event if they host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Chicago 2016 spokesman Patrick Sandusky says there’s a great opportunity to showcase the city’s parks and lakefront. The Associated Press reports organizers want a low-carbon event that has most sport venues along Lake Michigan.
Vehicles provided by the Games would run on low-carbon fuels or electricity, and venues would run on 100 per cent renewable energy, reports the Associated Press. Also storm water would be collected for reuse and the Games would use recyclable or reusable products, while the venues would be built to green building standards.
