Buenos Aires 2018 Bid Gets Another Boost

Buenos Aires’ bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) received another boost when the city was ranked first for culture, diversity, urban life, architecture and business schools in Latin America by a new America Economia survey.

According to the survey, Buenos Aires came first in Latin America as the city with the most interesting cultural life, the city with the most respect for diversity, the city with the best urban life and architecture, and the city with the most internationally ranked business schools.

The survey also revealed that Buenos Aires is ranked the third best city in which to be young and fifth best city in which to do business.

Francisco Irarrazaval, Buenos Aires Under-Secretary of Sports and Chief Executive of the Buenos Aires 2018 bid committee said, “it is fantastic to hear that Buenos Aires is again acknowledged as a world leader when it comes to offering an enriching cultural and social experience – especially for young people in the city. If Buenos Aires has the honour of hosting the 2018 YOG, the young people of our city will be wonderful ambassadors for the YOG and the Olympic Movement – showcasing the Olympic spirit to all young people around the world.

“As a tolerant and safe city, Buenos Aires can offer the Olympic Family, all the young athletes and the YOG spectators a uniquely warm welcome and provide a thrilling and memorable sporting experience.

“We also believe that we have the economic and commercial practices to ensure that the YOG becomes a long term, viable commercial proposition that benefits athletes, spectators, the Olympic Movement and young people around the world. The Olympic Family can trust Buenos Aires to deliver”.
