Budapest 2024 announced Tuesday that Attila Mihók will be taking over the CEO role of Hungary’s Olympic bid replacing Miklós Fekete at the helm.
Mihók has been the bid’s Chief Strategy Officer and was previously the CEO of Mediaworks, the largest publishing house in Hungary. He founded MindSense in 2015 to provide consulting services to clients in various industries, leveraging his experience in the IT and electronic publishing fields.
Mihók also worked for Swiss multinational Ringier, leading its Hungarian subsidiary, and was Chairman and CEO of Népszabadság – a large Hungarian daily newspaper.
Fekete is stepping down from the role, citing “personal reasons.”
The transfer of the CEO role from Fekete is planned for October 15.
Fekete was previously a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers working with mergers and acquisitions, business valuations and economic analysis. He was the partner in charge of the team of experts preparing the feasibility study for the potential hosting of the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Budapest.
Budapest is locked in a race with Los Angeles and Paris to win the right to host the 2024 Olympic Games. Rome is also in the field but expected to withdraw its candidacy when the city assembly votes on a motion against the bid Thursday.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will elect a winner September 13, 2017 in Lima, Peru.
