Tokyo 2020’s bid chief Masato Mizuno, reacting to the Boston Bombings, vowed Tuesday that safety is at the top of the priority list should Tokyo host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
Mizuno said, “we’ll do our best to prevent any of those wrongdoings” adding that groups who plan acts of violence know that it is not “very clever” to target the Olympics only to become “enemies of the whole world”.
He added that the bid committee will keep tabs on what actually happened in Boston, seeking to get to real facts, before considering whether the security plans for Tokyo’s hosting the bid need to be reviewed.
